Leif graduated from the George Brown College Jewellery Arts Program with honours in 2000, and spent the following three years as an artist in residence at the Harbourfront Centre. Leif always knew that his interests lay in custom gold smithing. Immediately after finishing his residency, he opened his retail studio space in the Distillery District in Toronto, which he successfully called home for 19 years.
Leif is an active member of the jewellery community in Toronto, serving as an advisor to the Harbourfront Centre’s metal/jewellery program, and also as a mentor to his goldsmithing staff. You can now find Leif in his private Leslieville studio, designing beautiful jewellery and also microscope diamond setting.
When Leif isn’t at the studio, you will find him enjoying a Steelers game, spending quality time with his family, or doing yoga.
My jewellery studio is my home away from home. Working in CAD and meeting with clients to chat about gems and custom design are some of my favourite parts of the job. I also love the history involved in jewellery design. I try to distil the nuance of each era down to a few key design elements then add a twist to make it my own.
